Silverwood; Ready Set GO!!!

PRESS RELEASE - Silverwood will open its gate again Saturday, May 5th - starting its 25th season. In 1987, when the Henley Aerodrome & Museum of Transportation was still under construction, Gary Norton wondered whether anyone would actually pay to visit his creation, located in a remote area of North Idaho.

“If nobody shows,” he said, “then I’m just going to have a nice little park to play in with my friends.”

25 years later, people have either shown up in droves, or Norton has around 8.5 million friends – the number of people who’ve passed through the gates of his theme park, wisely renamed Silverwood before it opened in 1988.

That statistic might be remarkable, but the story of how it happened is even more so. How did a small showcase of vintage planes, trains and automobiles become a regional tourist destination featuring wood roller coasters and a full water park? Why do well over half-million people every year journey well off the interstate to a still somewhat remote location in North Idaho? And how are they convinced to do so?

The story is as unique as the park itself.

Silverwood has grown from a local attraction into the largest Theme and Water Park in the Northwest with 221 acres of fun and over 65 rides, slides, shows and attractions in the park. The park boasts four massive roller coasters, 1 drop tower and countless other family friendly rides and attractions, as well as the Boulder Beach Water Park with two expansive wave pools, numerous water slides, play areas for the kids and VIP cabanas.

This opening weekend, May 5th and 6th , tickets are only $19.88 per person in celebration of Silverwood’s first season in “1988”. $19.88 tickets available online at www.silverwoodthemepark.com and at Silverwood's front gate. Regular admission price is $42.99, a savings of $23.11.

Silverwood will be opening weekends in May with Daily operation beginning May 26th.
