Art on the Green kicks off 45th year | Arts & Culture
The 45th annual Art on the Green kicks off Friday afternoon. A highlight of summer in Coeur d'Alene, Art on the Green showcases artists and musicians from across the country.
The weekend event is sponsored by the non-profit Citizens' Council for the Arts. The group uses all the money raised from food sales and commissions to produce Art on the Green and to support other arts centered special projects.
Over 145 artists working in a variety of mediums will be show casing their work Friday afternoon through Sunday. Glass, jewelery, painting, photography, pottery, and wood are among this year's artist categories, providing something for every kind of art enthusiast.
This year's poster was designed by Spokane sculptor Harold Balazs. Balazs is the artist responsible for the Rotary Fountain in Riverfront Park. He also worked alongside other artists and volunteers to create the “Art Space” at the Harding Family Center. Balazs has been a volunteer and support of Art on the Green since it started in 1968.
Art on the Green is located at the old Fort Sherman Grounds on the North Idaho Campus and runs Friday afternoon, August 2nd, through Sunday evening, August 4th. Free shuttles from downtown are available.
