Tribe Works to Move Land to Trust | Business
The Coeur d'Alene Tribe is working to move 370 acres of land into its trust. The move would allow them to manage the land according to their own land and environmental rules. Currently the land is subject to county and state oversight.
Tribal officials say the plan for the waterfront land on Lake Coeur d'Alene is to use it as a wildlife preserve. The tribe purchased the land years ago from a Silver Valley business man.
