Exchange food for fines this November | Community Spirit
If you owe the local library fines this is your chance to get them paid off without breaking the bank. During the month of November, the libraries of the Community Library Network are hosting a food for fines drive to help stock the shelves of area food bank pantries.
For every non-perishable food item donated the library will take off $1 in fines for library patrons. Up to $10 can be wiped off a book lover’s account in November.
“It’s not about the fines,” says Rebecca Melton, Community Library Network administrator, “it’s about getting as much food as possible to the food banks. Those food banks are located in our library’s service areas.”
Readers are encouraged to participate in donating food even if they don’t have fines to settle with the library. Libraries participating in the November food drive include Athol, Harrison, Hayden, Pinehurst, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake and the Bookmobile in the Community Library Network.
