Middle school students collect Clothes for the Cause

A group of students at River City Middle School in Post Falls is hoping the community will help them with a unique fundraiser for St. Jude Research Hospital. The students are hoping you’ll donate your old clothes, shoes, sheets and towels to be recycled through  Clothes for the Cause.

Shailey Nagel, Makenna and Hannah Maag and Dane Ford were working on a project for their extracurricular class, Challenge, when they decided they wanted to do something to benefit St. Jude. Last year, they raised $800 for hospital through traditional fundraisers like bake sales.

This year they wanted to try something different and teamed up with Clothes for the Cause. The organization pays groups 15 cents for every pound of textiles collected. Clothes for the Cause will take anything. Clothes can be old, stained, worn out, burned, mismatched, it doesn’t matter because the company recycles the clothes.

So far, the group has collected 1,000 pounds of clothes through efforts at their school. They want to pile on the pounds and are asking to community at large to get involved. Donations can be dropped off at Premier Auction Center, 674 N. Pleasantview, every Friday from 3:30 pm to 8 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm until March 14th.
