Kootenai County Sheriff's Office warns about recent car burglaries

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office released a warning for the community today about a rash of car burglaries last weekend.

  • On June 27, 2014 between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM in the 4800 block of S. Hwy 97, Harrison, an unlocked vehicle was entered with tools and other items stolen ($600.00).
  • Between June 29, 2014 at 5:30 PM and June 30, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the 11000 block of N. Peridot Dr., Hayden, an unlocked vehicle was entered with a computer stolen ($700.00).
  • Between June 29, 2014 at 10:00 PM and June 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the 600 block of E. Shiloh Loop, Hayden, an unlocked vehicle was entered with a wallet and money stolen ($35.00).
  • Between June 29, 2014 at 9:30 PM and June 30, 2014 at 12:00 PM in the 7700 block of N. 4th St., Dalton Gardens, (2) locked vehicles were forced entered with a GPS, CD’s, and money stolen ($960.00).
  • Between June 29, 2014 at 10:00 PM and June 30, 2014 at 12:30 PM in the 600 block of E. Arena Loop, Hayden, an unlocked vehicle was entered with a camera stolen ($100.00).

Especially with the holiday weekend just around the corner, KCSO is reminding citizens to lock your homes and vehicles. Never leave any valuables in the car, but if you must – make sure they are out of site, tucked under a seat or locked in the trunk.
