Post Falls Police Boost Impaired Driving Patrols | News
In an effort to save lives, the Post Falls Police Department will increase their patrols throughout the community from June 29 to July 12.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Post Falls Police and other law enforcement agencies will team up to increase arrests of those driving under the influence. They hope to reduce deaths and injuries resulting from impaired-driving accidents over the 4th of July weekend.
According to an NHTSA study, in 2010, 392 people were killed across the country in motor vehicle crashes from July 2 to July 12. Thirty-nine percent of these accidents involved drivers with a blood alcohol content above .08.
Police warn that these accidents occur more frequently in the nighttime hours. NHTSA found that the hours between 6:00 p.m. and 5:59 a.m.increased the likelihood of an impaired driving accident.
The Post Falls Police are encouraging the community to be responsible and help keep the roads safe.
